Nutrition Consultation Training

Often applying our nutrition knowledge can seem a bit daunting if we haven't had an opportunity to shadow a nutritionist or gain experience within our nutrition careers. In this online training talk, we will run through the basics of how to conduct a nutrition consultation and give you the opportunity to practice with a fellow nutritionist, whereby you take it in turns to be the client or nutritionist conducting a nutrition consultation.

Duration: 1.5 hours - Online

Training topics:

  • Setting the scene during your consultation

  • Building a client relationship and putting the client at ease

  • Maintaining AFN professional standards and confidentiality at all times.

  • How to structure the consultation

  • How to facilitate the consultation through appropriate questions and body language

  • Working with the client and setting client goals

  • Ending your consultation and next steps.

  • 20-30 minute role-play to practice a consultation using break out rooms

  • Q+A

This training series is designed for recent nutrition graduates, associate nutritionists, or registered nutritionists wishing to start seeing freelance clients. This is an online session delivered in small groups with time for a Q+A at the end.

Additional information:

You will receive a  handy consultation checklist, your certificate of attendance which is AFN endorsed for CPD one week after the talk has been attended.

We do not record the sessions. If you need to cancel your training date, we can offer you an alternative date if you give us 24 hours' notice. We do not accept refunds.

Your course host

Charlotte Turner is a registered nutritionist RNutr and founder of the Health Nutritionist, a nutrition clinic and consultancy company.

Charlotte remembers firsthand how daunting and exciting it can be once you are a qualified nutritionist and have your first freelance nutrition client. Often all we need is a little bit of guidance and support to point us in the right direction. We run a range of nutrition training talks ranging from topics such as conducting nutrition consultations to how to promote your nutrition clinic online. We also run our freelance training academy which includes this training course!

Testimionals

Charlotte was lovely, really down to earth and information. Lots of good information to take on board and implement in your practise. The small size of the group was nice too as meant it was very personal.

Very happy for attending this and I will be glad to attend any future sessions run by charlotte.

Very happy with the session with charlotte. She was very good at explaining the basics and she made me feel like very capable of doing it. I really liked the role play at the end although I was “scared” at the beginning.
